Check permission before suitability
A shaded trail may suit a dog but still have a temporary restriction. Contact the reserve or operator with the exact date and route.
Keep dogs leashed around wildlife, livestock and other walkers, and carry enough water for both of you.
Choose by heat and terrain
Laceno and Fontegreca offer shorter options, while Faito and Taburno require a documented mountain route. The Calore adds slippery banks and changing water.
Avoid hot exposed hours and abandon the plan if the dog, ground or weather is unsuitable.
